Mr Phillip Chan

Phillip is the Practice Principal at Horfield Dental Care.

He qualified from Cardiff University in 2007 spending part of his undergraduate career studying at Malmo University-Sweden.

In 2011 he completed a postgraduate Dental Implantology course at Cardiff University. Since 2011 Phillip has continued to exclusively provide implant treatment at multiple practices allowing him to gain valuable experience in this field. Phillip is a member of the International Team of Implantologists and treats all implant cases within Horfield Dental Care accepting referrals from other practitioners who require this service.

As well as dental implants, Phillip enjoys all areas of general dentistry but he has a particular interest in Cosmetic Dentistry. In 2020 Phillip gain a postgraduate certificate in ‘Cosmetic Dentistry & Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry’ with renowned cosmetic dentist Dr Chris Orr, this has allowed him to further improve his skills, knowledge and planning of complex aesthetic treatments.

Phillip is certified to provide a range of cosmetically focused braces including Invisalign, Quick Straight Teeth and Cfast and together with simple restorative techniques and whitening, he is able to produce the best cosmetic results in a simple, conservative manner.

Outside of dentistry Phillip is married with a young family and enjoys playing and watching Rugby, keeping active and travelling.

Mr Andrew Curran

After graduating from Bristol University in 2012 with Merit in Restorative and Paediatric Dentistry and Distinction in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine, Andrew returned to his home city of Newcastle upon Tyne to work for a year before travelling back to Bristol and joining Horfield Dental Care in 2013.

Andrew enjoys the unique blend of artistry, science and medicine that Dentistry offers, and he has a particular interest in minimally invasive aesthetic dentistry and smile makeovers involving CFast aesthetic braces. Andrew has great patience and is keen on alleviating the fears of anxious patients, particularly those who have struggled to visit the Dentist in the past, and are motivated to improve their oral health. For Andrew, working in a profession such as Dentistry, there is nothing more rewarding than helping someone conquer this fear and turn their lives around.

Outside of Dentistry, Andrew is a big film fan and enjoys keeping fit at the gym and playing football.

Louise Long

Louise graduated from Bristol University in 2008, prior to this she achieved a first class honours degree in Biomedical Science with an intercalated year in clinical histology.

Louise has always worked in general dental practice and enjoys all aspects of dentistry. She particularly enjoys the rapport she is able to build with her patients and strives to make sure all adults and children alike have a positive dental experience. Louise has a kind, calm and approachable manner (with a little bit of humour) which always helps to put people at ease.

Louise has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and takes pride at being able to help patients improve and gain confidence in their smiles.

Louise has completed various postgraduate courses that have had an emphasis on smile makeovers involving minimally invasive techniques such as clear aligner orthodontics to straighten teeth, whitening, and reshaping teeth using composite bonding.
Currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate course in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic dentistry at the world renowned Smile Concepts Institute. This comprehensive course has allowed Louise to improve her knowledge and practical skills in modern techniques and provide successful and predictable restorations.

Louise has been involved in dental education for many years and has held the role of Educational Supervisor in the South West Dental Foundation training scheme since 2016. This extremely rewarding position has seen Louise mentor newly qualified dentists during their transition from university to general dental practice and subsequently help launch many young dentists on their successful careers.

Outside of work, Louise is a self confessed triathlon addict! You will most likely find her running or cycling around Bristol or at the local pool or lake! Louise currently represents Great Britain at age group level.
Louise is married and has 2 young boys...and a crazy dog!

Dr Joanna Hudson

Jo graduated from the University of Bristol in 2021 and has remained working in the city and surrounding area ever since, taking advantage of what the city has to offer.

Jo enjoys all aspects of dentistry but has a keen interest in the prevention and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease. She also particularly relishes helping nervous patients to change their perception of dentistry.

Jo likes keeping up to date with the latest techniques and has recently undertaken a number of postgraduate courses in order to provide her patients with the best possible treatment. Jo is also a certified Invisalign provider and uses clear aligners to transform patient’s smiles.

Jo is proud to work with Bristol Bears rugby club and works alongside a team of professionals to provide the players with their mouthguards ahead of each new season.

In her spare time, Jo is a keen sportswoman and is often found on the hockey pitch or in the gym. She also loves travelling and has recently returned from hiking the Inca Trail in Peru.

Dr Hannah Finlay

Hannah graduated from Bristol University in 2018, she then moved to Hove on the south coast working in general practice for two years before returning to Bristol in 2020.

Hannah enjoys all aspects of dentistry but has a strong interest in cosmetic treatments, recently completing a postgraduate certificate in ‘Advanced Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry’ with the Aspire Dental Academy in 2021.
Hannah is also a certified Invisalign and SmileFast provider, allowing her to correct misaligned teeth and provide composite bonding smile makeovers.

She is currently working towards her post graduate diploma and is due to start an ‘Advanced Endodontics’ course later this year.
Whether your goal is simply health or improving aesthetics and function, Hannah will always strive to provide a calm dental experience with her caring and gentle approach.

Outside of dentistry, Hannah enjoys spending time in the gym, hiking or taking her paddleboard out on the water.

Dr Deirbhle Deehan

Hello, I'm Dr. Deirbhle Deehan, an experienced and passionate dentist with over 15 years of experience. Back in 2008, I graduated from Manchester University, and in 2009, I found my home in Bristol, where I've been serving as an associate dentist in South West England ever since. I’m passionate about minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry, where I take immense joy in transforming smiles and boosting my patients' confidence.

As an Invisalign provider, I have successfully completed over 100 cases and achieved the esteemed Invisalign Elite Apex award in 2023, ranking me among the top 1% of providers in the UK, Europe, and Africa. I’m a strong believer in treating all my patients like family by providing compassionate care and creating a warm, welcoming environment where each patient feels comfortable and valued.

Aside from dentistry, I'm a HUGE football fan! I not only play but I’m assistant manager of local club Bristol and West Ladies FC. It was there that I met my amazing wife, Becky. We've been happily married for 5 years now and enjoy travelling, attending concerts and all kind of sports events. I’m also a massive foodie so Bristol is the perfect city for me

Dr Francesca Norton

Joining us in February 2024.
Practice limited to Endodontics

Francesca graduated from the University of Bristol in 2016. She carried out her vocational training in London and went on to complete two years as a Senior House Officer. She worked at Kings College Dental Hospital in the Restorative, Paediatric and Oral Surgery Departments, and at St George’s Hospital as part of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team. She has since worked in private practice in Sydney and moved back to Bristol in 2021.

Francesca’s main interest is in root canal treatment (endodontics). She is currently undertaking a Masters in Endodontics at Queen Mary University of London to further her knowledge and skills. She treats patients at Barts and The London Dental Hospital who have been referred for root canal treatment. Francesca carries out all her endodontic treatment using a dental operating microscope. She is happy to accept referrals for root canal treatment and retreatment cases.

Francesca enjoys meeting new people and ensures her patients feel comfortable and relaxed when undergoing treatment.

Outside of dentistry, Francesca enjoys hiking and travelling to explore new places.

Victoria Worth

Victoria qualified from the University of Bristol in 2011, and awarded the Marsh Midda prize for best research project.

Following graduation Victoria worked in Bristol Dental Hospital where she was then awarded funding for a Masters Degree by research, focusing on the differences that children with cleft lip and palate face in terms of dental decay, compared with unaffected children. This culminated in her research being published in the British Dental Journal.

Alongside Victoria's role at Horfield Dental Care, she also works as the clinical lead for a Consultant Periodontist in a private specialist referral practice in Bristol. This has enabled her to gain a wealth of experience; in dealing with complex periodontal cases, and keeping up to date with the latest techniques in treating gum disease.

More recently Victoria has trained to provide our Facial Aesthetics service. Having a thorough understanding of facial anatomy, it enables Victoria to deliver a safe and effective, client focused service.

Victoria understands many people find the dental environment challenging, her goal is to work together with her patients to achieve a healthy mouth, in welcoming and comfortable surrounding.

Michael Johnson

Mike Graduated from the University of Bristol in 2024 with First class honours in dental Hygiene & Therapy.

Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist, Mike was a dental nurse who worked in community, caring for patients with complex learning difficulties and special needs.

Mike Prides himself in making you feel relaxed and educated within the dental setting; using easy to understand language whilst promoting a calm environment. Mike loves witnessing the behaviour changes patients make which improve not only their oral health but also their overall quality of life.

Outside of dentistry, Mike enjoys musical theatre, watching live music and likes to stay healthy by climbing and cycling.

Rachael Chapman

Rachael joined the practice in 2021 as our Lead Receptionist and in 2022 took the role of Practice Manager.

Rachael has over 14 years of customer service experience and has worked in various practices in the Bristol area. She is committed to ensuring that Horfield Dental Care provides our patients with the best level of service.

Outside of work, Rachael enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and she loves taking ‘Tyson’ her pet chihuahua (and also our Practice Pet Mascot) for walks.
